Little Things
"It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important." - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
One of the ways that photography has enriched my life is noticing the little worlds busily going on around me. As a child I recall playing outside and aware of much more. Twigs and leaves made a table setting for dolls on the ground. Ants were fascinating. Catching fireflies was a thrill.
In the greater universe, what we humans do is so small, but not small to us. Photography reminds me of the value in the seemingly smallest things. We are all connected.

I Love Carefully
This sticker was on a washing machine in my laundry room. I'm not sure if I love carefully but I try to choose whom to love carefully.

The cherry on top
"Life is just a bowl of cherries. Don't take it serious. Life's too mysterious."
I took this photo in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. The sculpture is "Spoonbridge & Cherry" by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen.

Don't say...
"Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein." ― H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Everything is connected
I thought this was fitting for summer solstice. We're in the thick of summer in Minnesota and there's a good two months of hot days left. Autumn is my favorite seasons. Summer is my least. Just the same, cultivating an appreciate of nature has taught me the value and necessity of all seasons.

A future blessing
“There are some years in our lives that we would not want to live again. But
even these years will pass away, and the lessons learned will be a
future blessing.” - Marjorie Pay Hinckley
There's a lot of years I'd never wish to relive. But one in my mid 30s was the best teacher I ever had. I hated that journey but am forever grateful for where it put me.

Sites worth checking out
Daily OM - I get their daily inspiration email. It's a quick read and nice reminder to refocus if my day is getting overloaded.
Beliefnet - I bookmarked their Wellness section. There's interesting articles for the mind and body.
Learn to Meditate podcast - I downloaded all of their guided meditations to my ipod. There's a lot of food for thought here.

The truth that is in us
"The moment we begin to fear the opinions of others and hesitate to tell the truth that is in us, and from motives of policy are silent when we should speak, the divine floods of light and life no longer flow into our souls." ― Elizabeth Cady Stanton

Don't limit yourself

Outside of a dog...
"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read." -Groucho Marx
